Irish superstar Katie Taylor expects Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan to deliver another competitive fight and feels the fighter who makes the better adjustments will win Saturday's world title bout in Las Vegas.

Briton Ryan has an opportunity to settle the score and regain the WBO welterweight title after she was outpointed by American Mayer, 34, in New York in September.

The fight was marred by Derby's Ryan, 31, being hit with red paint before leaving for the venue.

"The last fight was touch and go could have gone either way. Mikaela probably did deserve to win the fight maybe, but it was a very close fight," Taylor told the BBC 5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce podcast.

She added: "I think Sandy has had an amazing training camp this time, it's night and day between this training camp and the last training camp.

"I think that's going to make a huge difference going into this fight, she's in a much better place mentally.

"Mikaela is a super fighter too. I don't know who is going to win this fight. It's about who will make those adjustments."

'Serrano is an amazing dance partner'

Taylor will defend her light-welterweight undisputed titles in a trilogy bout against Amanda Serrano on 11 July at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The 38-year-old narrowly won both her previous encounters with Serrano, most recently a points decision in November in Texas.

"If me and Amanda fought 100 times it would be a fight of year contender. Just a clash of styles. It will always be one of those fights where you have to dig deep and show a lot of heart," Taylor said.

The all-female card will be shown live on streaming platform Netflix as the pair return to the iconic venue which hosted their first bout.

"You have to have an amazing dance partner and Amanda Serrano has been that for me," Taylor added.

"We definitely have a lot of respect for each other, but every time we step in that ring we have that desire to win the fight. We leave it all in there."
