Hannah Montana ran for four seasons a total of 98 original episodes.
Miley Cyrus was just 13 years old when Hannah Montana started its four-season run on television.
She played Miley Stewart, a normal high-school student who secretly performed as Hannah Montana, and episodes focused on her navigating her daily life while keeping her secret from her classmates.
The show also starred Billy Ray Cyrus, a country music star and Miley's real-life dad, as her father and manager Robbie Ray.
It was a monster hit for Disney, which produced merchandise, albums and live shows based on the series.
During the show's five years on-screen, Miley Cyrus' public image became more provocative, causing concerns at the time due to the contrast with Hannah's squeaky clean vibe.
However, he does appear in the anniversary special, though he was not present at the Los Angeles premiere on Monday.
The break-up anthem was the biggest song of 2023, with 198 million streams.
Billy Ray Cyrus was not the only Hannah Montana star who missed the premiere of the new special.
Emily Osment, who played Miley's best friend Lily Truscott, posted an Instagram video explaining that she was busy filming her sitcom Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage.
"I can't tell you what your sweet messages mean to me and how lucky I feel to have been a part of this once in a generation Goliath of a television show," she wrote.
The anniversary special, hosted by Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper, features an interview with Miley Cyrus, special guests and a musical performance.

Self-proclaimed mega-fan Kelly Russell from Cornwall, in the UK, tells BBC Newsbeat she's loved Hannah Montana "since the first episode aired".
"I've just kind of grown up with Miley and supported her music since then," she says.
The 27-year-old says Hannah's double life resonates with her now.
"We all have nine-to-fives or we might be full-time parents," she says.
"Then we have the other side of our life where we're so carefree and we have our hobbies and our passions.
"Being able to live with those messages of dreaming big and just never giving up on your dreams, having those messages that still live on today is just so important to me."
Kelly was among a number of super-fans invited to LA to watch the filming of the anniversary special - something she describes as a "surreal experience".
She says seeing the Hannah Montana logo behind the set felt like a bucket list moment.
"Seeing that with my own eyes was just an experience I never anticipated," she says.
And she says meeting the Best of Both Worlds singer was just as good as she hoped it would be.
"She was so wonderful and she understood that people grew up with this show," she says.
"And now they're raising their own children with this show - it's such a generational franchise.
"It was the perfect way to celebrate such an incredible and timeless show."
